Breast Enhancement

Breast enhancement surgery is still the most common, elective, surgical procedure performed today.  There were 400,000 Breast augmentation procedures reported to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) in 2006. Most of these reported procedures were performed strictly for the purpose of enhancing the women's existing breast size and shape. However, there are several other situations when using a breast implant is considered appropriate.

Breast enhancement surgery can enhance size and shape, correct imbalances, improve firmness, and restore the body contour. Breast enhancement is so popular because improving our shape can improve our self confidence and change how we are perceived by others. Breast surgery, however, does not change who you are and may not meet all of your expectations. This procedure is intended to enhance you not change you. Women seek breast enhancement for many reasons. Some of which are; being genetically disposed to smaller breasts, being genetically disposed to breasts that are not symmetrical, with one breast having a different size or shape than the other, reduced firmness from aging and drooping or sagging breasts after child bearing and breast feeding (this is typically corrected by two procedures: a breast lifting procedure and an augmentation).

The best candidates for this procedure are emotionally well-adjusted women who have a thorough understanding of the procedure. They are in good health, have a history of physical activity, and eat a healthy diet. Breast surgery is a good choice to enhance a figure, but not to completely change it. Understanding the procedure will help you form realistic expectations.
